A Little About Zion Lutheran Church
Welcome to Zion Lutheran Church’s website! We hope that you will visit us in person, whether you’re a life long Lutheran, looking to find out more about Lutherans, or just curious about Christianity in general.
What will you find when you visit Zion? You will find reverent worship (punctuated, of course, by the occasional voice of the children, whom we welcome with open arms) centered on Christ and His gifts earned on the cross and given out in His Word and His Sacraments.
The proclamation of the Gospel and the celebration of Holy Communion are thus the very heart and soul of our worship.
When you visit Zion you will find our hymnal, the Lutheran Service Book, in the pew which contains the hymns and order of service that we use. In addition, you will receive a worship bulletin that will serve as your guide during the Divine Service. The prayer, the psalm, and the readings of the day are in the bulletin as well as an outline of the service with page numbers.
Finally, you will find an opportunity to meet others who share similar interests, whether you are married or single, retired or just starting out on your own.
The best way to learn about Zion is to visit us on a Sunday morning. When you do, please introduce yourself to our pastor. Before the Service and at the conclusion of the service you will find Pastor Brandt Hoffman at the entrance to the church. He, and others, will be happy to talk with you more about Zion and how to learn more about the Christian faith and the Lutheran church.

Zion Lutheran Church: Is a servant Church:

Zion Lutheran Church: Is a worshipping Church:
In worship we know that we are not trying to please God or win His favor. Rather we gather to receive the good gifts from Him in Word and Sacrament.
We hold midweek services during Advent and Lent and during other church festivals.
We use a variety of robust services found in the Lutheran Service Book.
We hold faithfully to the guidelines of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod as witnessed in the historic Church.
Zion Lutheran Church: Is a family:
Being a part of this congregation means you always have brothers and sisters in the faith to rejoice with in times of happiness and to be there for you in times of need.
Zion Lutheran Church: Is Christ's Church!
We know that a Church is not just a gathering of like-minded people but rather it is the work of the Holy Spirit who calls, gathers and enlightens His people on earth.
We thank God every day for those whom He has blessed this fellowship with.
Zion Lutheran Church: Is a ministry of the Lutheran Church ~ Missouri Synod. To say this means we joyfully hold to the historic truths of the Christian Church:
- Sola Fide (Faith Alone): We believe, teach and confess that we are saved through Faith Alone in the saving work of Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 2:8)
- Sola Gratia (Grace Alone): We believe, teach and confess that the saving faith we have in Jesus Christ is a gift of Grace and a work of God and not man.
(Ephesians 2:8-9, 1 Corinthians 12:3, John 6:29, John 6:65)
- Sola Scriptura (Scripture Alone): We believe, teach and confess that the Scriptures are the only source for reading God's Holy Word (2 Timothy 3:16, John 5:39, John 7:38).
All doctrines of this Church are taken from Holy Scriptures. This is best exemplified by the Book of Concord, a series of writings that interpret the Scriptures on
several topics. We hold faithfully that these interpretations as a true understanding of God's unchanging Word.
History
November 3, 1963 saw Zion's first service held in a rented storefront on Muldoon Road. Ground breaking ceremonies were held on the 2.5 acre site, where Zion now stands,
on July 12, 1964. By New Year's Day 1965, the congregation had begun worshipping in the basement of the church building. Dedication services for Zion were held on
March 14, 1965. The parsonage was completed in 1968. Zion facilities were expanded with the building of an education wing in 1974.
