A Note From Pr. Hoffman

Worship Services at Zion

Zion Lutheran uses a variety of services as given in LUTHERAN SERVICE BOOK . These are exciting and robust alternatives to much of the stale "entertainment-oriented" worship styles that have dominated the worship "scene" over the last 30 years. Zion rejoices in the scripture and mystery of these services and we believe others will too.
Divine Services are on Sundays at 9:30am in English and 1:30 in Nuer.
Communion is normally held on the first and third Sundays (and on major Festival days).

What to expect when you come

First of all, expect to be greeted by the pastor and / or a very nice group of members. We are quite friendly here.
There are often a lot of people (members, visitors and guests) visiting before church. You can most likely hear the choir
warming up in preperation for the service.
If you arrive on a day where Holy Communion is served, you will be handed a card explaining the Communion policy of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
When you go into the Sanctuary (the place with the pews) it is common to be seated and take some quiet time
to contemplate your place before God. Others appreciate it when they have time for quiet time with God before church.

The Communion Policy of the Lutheran Church ~ Missouri Synod:

Out of love and reverence for Jesus Christ and His Holy Scriptures, and in a practice consistent with historic Christianity, this and all faithful LCMS congregations practice "close" or "closed" communion. This means that any person in this congregation who is a confirmed member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod or one of the many churches we are in fellowship with, is welcome at the altar to receive the true Body and Blood of Christ. If you are not a member of the LCMS or one of our fellowship congregations , we ask that out of respect for our beliefs, you do not take communion at this time. If you are unsure of your affiliation or you would like to begin communing here, please talk to the Pastor any time before the church service begins. Thank you for respecting our beliefs.

We also hold special services during Advent and Lenten seasons on Wednesdays at 7:00pm

See Our Calendar for more details.
